MINUTES OF special MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 thursday, july 5, 1962

The Board of County Commissioners met in special session in the office of Frank E. Owens, Clerk of the Circuit Court, in the Courthouse at Tavares, on Thursday, July 5, 1962, at ten o’clock a.m. for the purpose of considering the tentative budgets as presented by Clerk Owens and such other matters as may be brought before the Board, with the following present:  Chairman Simpson; Commissioners Cowart, Dykes, and Babb; Attorney Duncan; and Clerk Owens.  (Commr. Theus was absent)

The Board was called to order by Chairman Simpson.

After considering the budgets as prepared by Clerk Owens and making the necessary revisions thereto, Commissioner Babb moved that the budgets as amended be adopted and that Clerk Owens be instructed to advertise the tentative budgets as adopted in the Eustis Lake Region News, Eustis, Florida, stating the Board of County Commissioners will meet on Friday, July 20, 1962 at ten o’clock a.m. for the purpose of hearing requests and complaints from the public.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cowart and unanimously carried.

request for change in zoning

Gordon Oldham, Jr., attorney, representing Agricultural Workers Housing, Inc., appeared before the Board and presented an Application for change in Zoning on property which is now zoned R-1-A to Agricultural Zoning.  The Zoning Commission recommends that the change be granted.  The property is located approximately 5 miles north of Minneola, in NE ¼ of NW ¼ of Section 3, Township 21 S. R. 25 East.  This request is made for the purpose of construction of the State Board of Health approved Agricultural Housing Area.  WHEREUPON, on a motion by Commr. Dykes, seconded by Commr. Babb and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted:

WHEREAS, the Lake County Zoning Commission did, on the 5th day of July, 1962, after due notice of the hearing, review applications for changes and revisions of the zoning of certain areas in Lake County and did approve certain changes as requested in the particular application hereinafter set forth, subject to approval of the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, and the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, having reviewed said applications and the recommendations of the Lake County Zoning Commission;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida, that the Zoning Rules and Regulations of Lake County be altered and amended as they pertain to the following tract of land, to the classification designated after the description:

1.      The Northeast Quarter of Northwest Quarter (NE ¼ of NW ¼) of Section 36, Township 21 South, Range 25 East, now classified and zoned as R-1-A (Residential), be, and the same is hereby amended, changed and rezoned to Classification A (Agriculture).

discussion of lake-sumter junior college

A letter from the School Board re:  A resolution adopted by the Board of County Commissioners in September 1958, pledging assistance for the College, was discussed, and Attorney Duncan was instructed to write the School Board in regard to this.

 

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the MEETING ADJOURNED.
