MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS on

 monDAY – july 20, 1964

The Board of County Commissioners met in special session in the Pioneer Building in Tavares on Monday, July 20, 1964, at 9 o’clock A.M. for the purpose of hearing recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission for a planning consultant for the County.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman with the following members of the Board being present:

 Commrs. Theus, Dykes, Livingston and Chairman Babb.  Commr. Cowart was absent.

Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission present were:

J. E. French, F. C. W. Cramer III, A. S. Brooks, R. E. Nash, A. J. Caldwell, Jr., R. V. Gardner, J. E. Brown, and Robert S. Webb, Zoning Director.

The invocation was given by Mr. Theus.

Planning & zoning

Mr. Brooks acted as spokesman for the Planning & Zoning Commission and said Adley Associates of Atlanta is their recommendation.

Discussion followed with reference to securing a firm price from Mr. Adley and also the date his firm can begin their program.  Motion was made by Commr. Dykes, seconded by Commr. Livingston and carried, that Mr. Adley be contacted by the Zoning Director and request that he give us a firm price by July 27th, the date of the final budget hearing, and ask him if he can begin his program by October 1st.

Commr. Theus gave the name of Emil Yde to replace T. C. Prosser on the Board of Zoning Appeals from his District and requested that this recommendation be forwarded to the Governor.

Chairman Babb thanked the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission for meeting with this Board.

Deeds

On motion of Commr. Theus, seconded by Commr. Dykes and carried, corrected deed from W. T. Adams, Jr., as Executor of the Estate of Wilbur T. Adams, a/k/a W. T. Adams, deceased, conveying certain property to Lake County was accepted and ordered recorded upon the public records.

County buildings

R. V. Gardner appeared before the Board and requested meeting space for the 42 students of the Mount Dora Civil Air Patrol Squadron, also, need space for drills.  Motion by Commr. Dykes, seconded by Commr. Livingston and carried, the meeting room in the Pioneer Building was allocated one night a week for use by the Mount Dora Civil Air Patrol Squadron.

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 9:45 o’clock A.M.
