MINUTES OF special MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY – june 20, 1966
The Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida, met in special session in the Commissioners’ Room in the Courthouse in Tavares, at 9:00 a.m. for the purpose of considering budget requests previously received.
Chairman Theus called the meeting to order with the following members present: Chairman Theus, Commrs. Cowart, Dykes, Livingston and Babb. Also present were Clerk Owens, Attorney Duncan and Deputy Clerk Doris Babb.
Public health
During the session Mr. Howard Young, Chairman of the Oklawaha Water Authority, appeared and requested the County’s assistance in a pilot study of the County’s lakes by Dr. James B. Lackey. On motion of Commr. Dykes, seconded by Commr. Livingston and carried, the Board agreed to budget $1,250 for one year’s study and survey.

Clerk Owens advised the Workmen’s Compensation coverage will be up for renewal on July 5, 1966 and letter from Lassiter-Ware advises the renewal premium based on the payrolls in the expiring policy will be $10,716.78. Motion was made by Commr. Livingston, seconded by Commr. Cowart and carried, that the Board advertise for bids for this coverage and the Clerk was instructed to advertise same for July 5, 1966.
budget
While discussing the Court Reporter’s budget, Clerk Owens was directed to notify Mr. Hamlin the Board feels the other counties in the Circuit should bear their pro rata costs of the administrative expense and equipment necessary to the Court Reporter’s Office.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned.
