MINUTES OF special MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY – june 17, 1968

The Board of County Commissioners met in special session in the Commissioners’ Room in the Courthouse, Tavares, Florida, on Monday, June 17, 1968 at 9:00 A.M. to review the budget requests submitted on June 6, 1968.

The Chairman called the meeting to order with the following members present:  Commissioner Herbert A. Babb, Chairman; Commissioners J. C. Cowart, Herman T. Dykes and Thomas J. Windram.  Also present were Clerk Frank E. Owens and Deputy Clerk Doris Babb.

contracts and agreements

On motion of Commissioner Cowart, seconded by Commissioner Dykes and carried, the Board agreed to enter into an agreement with the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission for fisheries work on Lakes Harris and Eustis and other Lake County lakes, and an agreement between the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, and L. W. Spence with reference to a cooperative seining program on Lakes Harris and Eustis.

County employee

On motion of Commissioner Dykes, seconded by Commissioner Cowart and carried, the employment of Alice Blackburn to the position of Assistant Home Economics Agent, effective September 1, 1968 was approved at a cost to the County of $3,350.00 plus $900.00 travel expense annually.

Letter from Governor Claude Kirk was filed.  The Attorney was directed to notify each one involved, giving generalities of charges being made in said letter and also to write to the Governor.  The Clerk was instructed to keep the matter confidential.

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned.
