MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Wednesday – february 19, 1969

The Board of County Commissioners met in recessed session in the Commissioners’ Room in the Courthouse in Tavares, Florida, on Wednesday, February 19, 1969, at 9:00 o’clock A.M. for the purpose of designating primary and secondary roads for the 1969-70 State Road Department Budget, and any other matters which might be brought before the Board.

The Chairman called the meeting to order with the following members present:  Commissioner Thomas J. Windram, Chairman; Commissioner James R. Carson, Jr., Alex J. Macdonnell, J. M. Hoskinson, and Kenneth VanAuken.   Others present were County Attorney, C. E. Duncan; County Engineer Gordon Hays, Jr.; County Planner, J. C. Watkins and Deputy Clerk Norma H. Coven.

The invocation was given by Mr. Hays.

PUBLIC HEALTH

On motion of Commissioner Carson, seconded by Commissioner Hoskinson and carried, contract between Lake County and Harvey Spears Contractor was approved, and the Chairman and Clerk were authorized to execute same.

BONDS – Misc.

Bond for carrying firearm for Louis Burg was approved on motion of Commissioner VanAuken, seconded by Commissioner Carson and carried.

BIDS

Attorney Duncan presented a letter to the Clerk from the Quaid Fence Co. of Fla., Inc. in which they advise their bid of November 12, 1968 for chain link fencing was in error due to computing the cost of the materials, and requesting a change order in the sum of $242.55.  Commissioner Carson moved that a change order to the bid be denied and that the bidder be advised Lake County expects the materials and fencing to be delivered in accordance with the bid.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hoskinson and carried.

STATE AGENCIES

Commissioner Carson recommended that the Board go on record objecting to the Governor’s appointment of a Jacksonville resident to represent the Central Florida Area as a member of the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission.  After further discussion, the Board postponed action on this subject.

ROADS – State

On motion of Commissioner Carson, seconded by Commissioner Hoskinson and carried, the Board adopted the following resolution designating the construction of primary roads in the priority in which they appear:                      SEE PAGE 378 of Minute Book 21

On motion of Commissioner Carson, seconded by Commissioner Hoskinson and carried, the Board adopted the following resolution designating secondary roads:

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 o’clock A.M.
