MINUTES OF special MEETING OF the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 THURsDAY – june 18, 1970

The Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida met in special session in the Commissioners’ Room in the Courthouse, Tavares, Florida, on Thursday, June 18, 1970, for the purpose of considering applicants for the position of County Engineer and awarding bids received June 15, 1970.

The Chairman called the meeting to order with the following being present:  James R. Carson, Jr., Chairman; Alex J. Macdonell, J. M. Hoskinson, Thomas J. Windram, and Kenneth VanAuken.  Also present was Deputy Clerk Norma H. Coven.

On motion of Commr. Macdonell seconded by Commr. Hoskinson and carried, the Board accepted the bid of Florida Equipment Co. of Orlando to furnish Lake County one Rexrol Steel Wheel Tandem Roller, with Ford gasoline engine, for a delivered price of $8,343.90.

On motion of Commr. Windram seconded by Commr. VanAuken and carried, the Board accepted the bid of Geiger, Holstein, Church, Inc. with The Travelers as the best and lowest bid to furnish Lake County Workmen’s Compensation Insurance at an estimated annual premium of $14,206.00, effective July 5, 1970.

The Board approved the employment of Robert H. Norton effective June 22, 1970 as the most desirable applicant for the position of County Engineer, at an annual salary of $15,000.00.

 

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 4:00 o’clock P.M.
