MINUTES OF special MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
FRIDAY – JULY 14, 1972
A special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida, was held on July 14, 1972, in the Commissioners’ Room, in the Courthouse, Tavares, Florida, at 9:30 o’clock a.m. for the purpose of considering the budget for the Fiscal Year 1972/1973 and any other business which may be brought before the Board.
The Chairman called the meeting to order with the following members present: Thomas J. Windram, Chairman; James R. Carson, Jr.; C. A. Deems; J. M. Hoskinson; and Kenneth VanAuken. Others present were: Frank E. Owens, Clerk of Circuit Court; and Doris Babb, Deputy Clerk.
At the request of Representative Glisson and Ed Zagar of the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission and on motion of Commr. Deems, seconded by Commr. VanAuken and unanimously carried, the Board approved the use of two dump trucks and two men to assist in harvesting hyacinths in Trout Lake for period of two weeks.

On motion of Commr. Hoskinson, seconded by Commr. VanAuken and unanimously carried, the Board adopted Resolution stating the problem of hyacinths in Lake County waters and instructed the Clerk to send same to the following: Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior and the President’s Council on Environmental Quality.
On motion of Commr. VanAuken, seconded by Commr. Hoskinson and unanimously carried, the Board approved budgeting of the Youth Services Bureau Fund for October through December in 1972-73 budget; then phase out as the Federal funds will be expended at that time.

On motion of Commr. Deems, seconded by Commr. Hoskinson and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the employment of George Reynolds as Veterans Service Officer and Civil Defense Director at annual salary of $6,000.00.
There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
