A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

June 23, 1976

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners convened in Special Session on Tuesday, June 23, 1976, at 1:30 p.m., in the Board of County Commissioners’ Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida to discuss the selection of a Public Works Director/County Engineer.  Present were:  Thomas J. Windram; C.A. Deems; J. M. Hoskinson; and James R. Carson, Jr.   Others present were: Andrea Gambrell, Deputy Clerk and Terry King, Secretary in the Personnel Department.  Absent was:  Glenn Burhans.

The Board asked if anyone had reminded Commr. Burhans of the Special Meeting.  The Deputy Clerk stated that attempts had been made to contract him by phone but he could not be reached.

Commr. Windram stated that he had been contacted by Mrs. Chris Rebinus regarding the disbursement of funds under Title 1 which have previously been divided between the State of Florida Employment Service under the direction of Glyn Faircloth and the Division of Youth Services under the direction of Nicki Knowles.  He stated that he felt the Board should listen to her comments and then make a determination as to how the funds should be allocated this year.  The Chairman requested that the Clerk’s Office contact Mrs. Rebinus to establish a time and date for her to appear before the Board at their meeting of July 6, 1976.

county employees

Discussion was held regarding the possible Public Works Director/Engineer applicant from Leon County.  Commr. Deems stated that to the best of his knowledge he no longer was interested in the position.

Discussion was held on the application submitted by Mr. Bob Andrew.  On a motion by Commr. Carson seconded by Commr. Deems and carried unanimously by those present the Board approved for the position of Public Works Director/County Engineer to be offered to Mr. Bob Andrew at a salary of $22,000 a year.  His effective date is to be as soon as possible.

There being no further business to be brought before the Board the meeting adjourned at 1:50 P.M.
