A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

DECEMBER 28, 1979

            The Lake County Board of County Commissioners met in Special Session on Friday, December 28, 1979, at 1:30 P.M. in the Board of County Commissioners' Meeting Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida. Commissioners present were: Thomas J. Windram, Chairman; Glenn Y. Middleton; C. A. "Lex" Deems; Glenn C. Burhans; and James R. Carson, Jr. Others present were: James C. Watkins, Clerk; Christopher C. Ford, County Attorney; and Pat Goetzen, Deputy Clerk.

            BIDS/INSURANCE

            On a motion by Commr. Carson, seconded by Commr. Deems and carried unanimously, the Board awarded the bid for Inland Marine Insurance to Lassiter Ware, Inc., covering various contractors’ equipment, boats and motors, and computer, including hardware and software, etc. owned by Lake County. Total premium for a one (1) year period - $8,383 with a $5,000 deductible.

            The motion also includes a premium of $1,252 per year covering the voting machines owned by Lake County.

            RESOLUTIONS/EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

            On a motion by Commr. Burhans, seconded by Commr. Carson and carried unanimously, the Board authorized the Chairman to sign a proclamation declaring the month of January, 1980, as Emergency Medical Services Month.

            CETA

            On a motion by Commr. Middleton, seconded by Commr. Deems and carried unanimously, the Board referred to Commr. Carson, a request from Herb Spell for space at the Expo Hall to teach a CETA training class. The space must be air conditioned and heated. Mr. Spell is presently using space provided in the Emergency Services Office but Bob Lewis, Emergency Service Director, now needs the space for fuel allocations.

            There being no further business to bring to the attention of the Board, the meeting adjourned at 2:10 P.M.
