A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

SEPTEMBER 15, 1980

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners convened in Special Session on Monday, September 15, 1980, at 1O:OO A.M. in the Board of County Commissioners' Meeting Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida. Commissioners present were: C. A. "Lex" Deems, Chairman; Thomas J. Windram; Glenn Y. Middleton; James R. Carson, Jr. and Glenn C. Burhans. Others present were: James C. Watkins, Clerk; Sanford Minkoff, County Attorney's Office; Harold Koppel, Finance Director; Donald Smalt, Executive Assistant to the Clerk and Pat Shirah.

BUDGETS/HOSPITALS

Mr. Carl Bender, Mr. Bob Warfield and Mr. Darrell Shonkwiler were present representing Waterman Memorial Hospital regarding the Northeast Ambulance District. Mr. Bender stated that the Northeast Ambulance District collected 83 percent of all bills last year.

The Board discussed offering both the Northeast and Northwest Ambulance Districts $250,000.00 each for the 1980- 981 budget year, subject to Public Hearings in order to create the proper millage rate. Mr. Bender stated he felt the Northeast Ambulance District could operate on the $250,000.00, and that if the Northwest Ambulance District felt they could not operate on the $250,000.00 the Northeast Ambulance District would be willing to help the County by operating the service temporarily.

RECESS AND REASSEMBLY

At 11:25 A.M. the Chairman announced the Board would recess until 11:30 A.M.

The Board Reconvened at 11:30 A.M.

BUDGETS/LANDFILLS

Discussion occurred regarding fees collected by the County Landfills from commercial users.

Commr. Carson suggested the Board raise the commercial fees from $.75 per cubic yard to $1.00 per cubic yard. No action was taken at this time.

There being no further business to bring to the attention of the Board the meeting adjourned at 12:10 P.M.
