A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
JUNE 2, 1983
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners met in Special Session for a budget workshop on Thursday, June 2, 1983, at 1:45 p.m. in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida. Commissioners present at the meeting were: Thomas J. Windram, Chairman: James R. Carson, Jr.; Claude E. Smoak, Jr.; and Glenn C. Burhans. Others present were: Donald W. Smalt, Administrative Services Director; Robert L. Wilson, Finance Director; Bill LeHeup, Senior Clerk: Michael C. Willett, Director of Development & Public Works; and Mary C. Grover, Secretary.
BUDGETS
Discussion occurred regarding the proposed budget requests for 1983-84 with the following tentative results:
DEPARTMENT TENTATIVE RESULTS
Senior Services The Board directed Mr. Willett to research the grants submitted for the Senior Services.
Fire Control Approved
Historical Society Approved
Water Authority Postponed until more information can
be obtained.
Association for
Retarded Citizens Postponed new budget request
Economic
Development Council Postponed until detailed budget is
received by the Board.
County Attorney Requested a recap sheet on where the monies for legal services will be spent.
Registrations Approved without salaries
Elections Approved
After considerable discussion, it was the feeling of the Board that the Department Heads should be present to discuss their budget requests with the Board. The following budget requests were scheduled for the budget workshop being held on June 9, 1983, at 1:30 p.m.:
Senior Services Water Authority
Personnel Purchasing
Building Maintenance Building Custodian
Planning Department Building & Zoning
Fairgrounds Boating Improvement
Pollution Control Veterans Service
Emergency Services Lake County Family Planning
County Attorney Registrations - E. Stegall
Elections
The Board scheduled the following budget requests for the budget workshop on June 16, 1983:
Welfare Administration Welfare Service
Animal Control Emergency Communications
Agriculture Department Soil Conservation
Medical Examiner
The following budget requests were tentatively approved by the Board:
Mental Health
Fire Control
Historical Society
Judge Aulls, Bailiff
There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board, the meeting adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
