MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 MONDAY – march 16, 1964

The Board of County Commissioners met in special session in the Small Claims Office in the Courthouse at Tavares on Monday, March 16, 1964, at 2:00 o’clock P.M. for the purpose of receiving bids on the Courtroom furnishings and any other business which might be brought before the Board:

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman with the following being present:    Commrs. Cowart, Dykes and Livingston; Clerk Owens, Attorney Duncan and Howell C. Hopson, Architect.

It now being 2:00 o’clock P.M., the time advertised to receive bids on courtroom furnishings, it was moved by Commr. Dykes seconded by Commr. Cowart and carried, that the Clerk be directed to open the bids and the Architect directed to tabulate the bids.  Whereupon, the Clerk reported receiving bids from the following:

Bowen Supply Company

Simons Office Equipment

L. L. Sams & Son

Skipper, Inc.

Leesburg Typewriter Service

George Stuart, Inc.

Southern Printing Co.

 

On recommendation of the Architect and on motion of Commr. Dykes seconded by Commr. Cowart and carried, the following changes to the Courthouse contract were approved:

Revise Handrails                                                               $       25.00

Flooring & Cabinets – Supervisor of Registration                1,826.33

Miscellaneous Electrical Work – Clerk’s Office                     614.58

Changes to Small Claims Court                                                572.51

Cement Old Elevator Pit                                                             80.00

Chairman Babb vacated the chair in favor of Vice Chairman Livingston and moved for the acceptance of deed conveying the following described property to Lake County.  Motion was seconded by Commr. Dykes and carried, and the deed was ordered recorded upon the public records:

GRANTOR:  Josephine Wawrzycki, a widow

A strip of land 66 feet in width, measured 33 feet on each side of the following described centerline:

 

BEGIN 660 feet South of the Northwest corner of the Southeast corner of the Northeast Quarter of Section 15, Township 18 South, Range 26 East, said point being the Southwest corner of Lot 21 of Crest Haven Subdivision, a Plat of which appears recorded in Plat Book 13, page 16, public records of Lake County, Florida, thence run Southeasterly along the southerly boundary of said Crest Haven Subdivision, a distance of 669.24 feet, thence North 63°29’ East 215.10 feet to a point, the point of beginning for this centerline; thence run South 78°8’ East to the East boundary of said Section 15.

 

On recommendation of the County Attorney and on motion of Commr. Dykes seconded by Commr. Livingston and carried, deed was accepted conveying the following described property to Lake County for road purpose only and ordering same recorded upon the public records:

GRANTOR:  Mallory Smith, Jr. and wife, Gladys Smith

Commence at the NW corner of the NE ¼ - SW ¼ Section 34, Township 21, South, Range 27 East, thence run South 470 feet to P.O.B.; thence run East 330 feet; thence run South 50 feet; thence run West 330 feet; thence run North 50 feet to P.O.B.

 

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 3:00  P.M.
