A special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida, was called by the Chairman for 11:45 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida, for the purpose of approving a public official bond of A. B. Marshall and any other business which may be presented to the Board.

The Chairman called the meeting to order with the following members present:  C. A. Deems, Chairman; J. M. Hoskinson; Glenn C. Burhans; James R. Carson, Jr.; and Thomas J. Windram.  Others present were:  James C. Watkins, Clerk of Circuit Court, and Norma H. Coven, Deputy Clerk.

Florida Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. insuring Albert B. Marshall in the amount of $2,500 as a member of the Board of the Oklawaha Basin Recreation and Water Conservation and Control Authority in Lake County was submitted and approved on a motion by Commr. Carson, seconded by Commr. Burhans and unanimously carried.

tax – valuations

Clerk Watkins presented estimates for the 1973 Lake County Tax Roll as submitted to the Florida Dept. of Revenue under the date of July 30, 1973 by the Tax Assessor as follows:

County Wide Non Exempt Aggregate Value             $531,829,667

County Wide Aggregate Value                                  $807,218,692

Mr. Stephens’ letter advises this is an approximate increase of 10.7 percent over the previous year.

The Clerk advised the Board his office is in need of two new typewriters and requested permission to obtain three (3) quotations from IBM on three (3) different machines.  Commr. Burhans stated Mrs. Stegall is in need of a typewriter and has received three (3) quotes from different vendors.  On a motion by Commr. Burhans, seconded by Commr. Carson and unanimously carried, the Clerk was authorized to accept the lowest and best prices on machines needed in his office and Mrs. Stegall’s.

There being no further business to bring before the Board, the meeting adjourned.
