A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

June 24, 1980

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners met in Special Session on Tuesday, June 24, 1980, at 1:30 P.M. in the Board of County Commissioners' Meeting Room, Courthouse, Tavares, Florida. Commissioners present were: C. A. "Lex" Deems, Chairman: Thomas J. Windram; James R. Carson, Jr.: Commr. Glenn C. Burhans present at 2:41 P.M. Others present were: James C. Watkins, Clerk; Donald W. Smalt, Executive Assistant to the Clerk; Harold Koppel, Finance Director; Pat Willman, Deputy Clerk.

Discussion occurred regarding tentative budget request with the following results:

(Meals On Wheels)

Lake County Sheriff's Department Due to uncertanties regarding the Trim Bill, the Board requested the Sheriff come back before the Board at a later date.

LAWS & LEGISLATION

Discussion occurred regarding the Trim Bill and its' effect on the budget request. Sandy Minkoff, County Attorney's Office, stated he had not studied the Bill in its' entirety, however, he felt the County could not spend money without adopting at least a tentative budget.

Expo & Farmer's Market Approved Two maintenance employees to be placed under maintenance budget for utilization at fairgrounds during certain months and courthouse maintenance during other months

There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board, the meeting adjourned at 4:35 P.M. The Chairman announced the Board would meet on Thursday, June 26, 1980, at 1:30 P.M. for a budget workshop meeting. The Board reconvened at 4:45 P.M. for an additional item of business.

On a motion by Commr. Burhans, seconded by Commr. Carson and carried, the Board authorized a Public Hearing regarding Special Assessment Road Projects, to be held on August 5, 1980, at 10:00 A.M. Commr. Windram was not present for the vote.

There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board, the meeting adjourned at 4:50 P.M.
