Small Claims Booklet (33 KB)

This booklet is intended as a guide to Small Claims in Lake County. It has been compiled by the county judges of the county court (see disclaimer on page 1). This booklet should be reviewed by anyone considering filing a small claims action as it will provide useful information for evaluating the claim to be made.

Small Claims Package (136 KB)

This package provides the forms necessary to file a small claims action that involves monies in the amount of $5000.00 or less. This package also includes information about the Lake County Small Claims mediation program which was implemented by the Lake County judges. Mediation is required in all small claims actions in Lake County.

Collecting a Judgment (15 KB)

This booklet is intended as a brief guide to collecting judgments in Lake County after a judgment has been entered by the Court. It has been compiled by the county judges of the county court (see disclaimer on page 1). This booklet should be reviewed by anyone considering filing a small claims action as it will provide useful information for evaluating the probability of collecting on a small claims judgment.

Replevin Packet (26 KB)

The Replevin action is used for resolving civil disputes involving personal property valued up to$15,000.00 (excluding court costs, interest and/or attorney's fees, if applicable). This process allows an individual to recover their property from another person who refuses to return the property to the owner.

Emergency Replevin (310 KB)

This can be used in cases where you need to retrieve your property in an emergency. The Replevin action is used for resolving civil disputes involving personal property valued up to$15,000.00 (excluding court costs, interest and/or attorney's fees, if applicable). This process allows an individual to recover their property from another person who refuses to return the property to the owner.
